Mortal Kombat review Empty

Known as the most goriest fighting game ever, Mortal Kombat returns with fatalities and gore to the new generation of games, but does it succeed doing a good mortal kombat game after the removal of fatalities and crossovers with Super-heroes?

Story:
Mortal Kombat's story mode is really top-notch.
By retelling the stories of MK1, 2 and 3; It tells about Raiden from the future who is about to get killed by Shao Kahn in the events of Mortal Kombat: Armaggedon, with all the earthrealm heroes and outworld villains being killed, and the only way to avoid it was him giving visions of the future to the raiden of the past and a message: "He must win" before he dies.
With this visions, Raiden must alter the past to avoid a catastrophe.
At first it maybe be silly, but as more as it progresses, it becomes entertaining and expands the characters backstories such as Cyrax,Sektor and Kitana.
It may get stupid sometimes, but overall it's good and makes a much better story than MK vs. DC Universe.

Visuals:
Now, the graphics aren't visually good it looks like the common Xbox 360 graphics, even on the PS3 with HDMI Graphics don't change a lot.
The CGI cutscenes, however, does make the characters look a bit chubby, I mean their faces sometimes does make the characters looks like they are overweight because of their cheeks.
The Scenario does have some cool effects and detailed background, but this doesn't change the fact that the graphics aren't superb.
The character models looks neat, with new designs and in battle they look very detailed especially when they take damage, but like above, they aren't perfect and does have some exagerations.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is awesome, unlike many 3D Mortal Kombat games, this one is 2.5D (Which makes 3D look 2D).
It has some new additions such as enchanced moves and breakers seen on MK vs. DC and the all new X-Ray moves, during this attack, the camera provides an internal view of a defending character and shows bones and organs being broken or ruptured.
The tag team mode now features Tag assists kinda like in Marvel vs. Capcom, in which the player's partner comes to assist the player's character.
However, there are always cheaters playing this game, if you jump and kick the other player's back and do this over and over again, you win the match, characters who teleport also doesn't help like Sektor that this move can be always done and always hurt you, but luckily, you can defend in this game which helps this problem, but also helps the other player recover quickly.

Replayability:
Mortal Kombat has tons of modes, you hear that capcom: TONS!
There is lots of single player modes such as ladder, test your might, challange tower, test your luck, training, fatality training, story mode, test your luck, test your strike and test your sight.
Which helps you get Koins to unlock content on the krypt such as fatalities, character clothes, concept arts, fatality sketches and other cool things.
You can also play with four friends: two against two, which provides a great experience
There is also online modes such as king of the hill, normal online, tag team fights and you can even take your buddy to play with you.

Overall:
Mortal Kombat is back and is here to humiliate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, with a all new story mode and great replayability, mortal kombat impresses, but fails on the graphics.

Rating:
9/10
